16973: Customer Experience Taming DB2 Distributed Threads using System Profile Monitoring

Thursday, March 5, 2015: 3:15 PM-4:15 PM
Cedar (Level 2) (Sheraton Seattle)
Speaker: Mark Rader(IBM Corporation)
Handouts
  • Customer Experience Taming DB2 Distributed Threads using System Profile Monitoring (1.2 MB)
  • What is DB2 System Profile Monitoring (SPM)?  Introduced in DB2 9 for z/OS and extended in DB2 10 for z/OS, SPM provide a variety of exciting capabilities: ZPARMs at a more granular level than the subsystem, modeling the production environment in a test environment, and SQL optimization choices - all available via online changes.
Attendees will hear why and how a customer implemented DB2 Profiles to address a specific problem that affected their DB2 environment.  Then attendees will learn how to implement DB2 Profiles to exploit DB2 behavior with controls far more granular than ZPARMs.

Tracks: DB2, Performance/Capacity Planning, Software Architecture and User Experience
