  • The GDPS/Active-Active sites concept is a fundamental paradigm shift in disaster recovery from a failover model to a continuous availability model. GDPS/Active-Active consists of two sites, separated by virtually unlimited distances, running the same applications and having the same data to provide cross site workload balancing and continuous availability. One of the key components to a GDPS/Active-Active solution are external load balancing IP routers that balance workloads through the Server/Application State Protocol (SASP).

    In this session we will discuss the GDPS/Active-Active workload balancing function in detail, with a focus on SASP, the router functionality, and how it functions in conjunction with the IBM Multi-site Workload Lifeline for z/OS.
