  • This self-directed lab is a follow-on to the session "From IEWL to IEWBIND -- everything there is to know about link-editing your z/OS programs".

Here you will have hands-on opportunity to write some code which uses the binder APIs.  There will be handouts explaining the specific APIs you'll be working with and some coding examples for you to complete.  An instructor will be available to help guide you and answer any question you may have.

The session will be set up so that you can work in traditional MVS ISPF environment or z/OS UNIX and you can write the code in assembler or in C.  You can also experiment with both the regular binder APIs and the fast data access APIs.

After completing this session you'll have a good working knowledge of the binder APIs general concepts and be ready to take on any of the rest of them that you might ever need to use.
