Tivoli Storage Manager for z/OS Media
With the introduction of TSM V6, FICON attached tape is not natively supported by a TSM server running on z/OS.
TSM for z/OS Media (Media Server) will leverage a FICON environment to preserve existing TSM V5 archived and backed-up data.
The Media Server supports existing storage hardware used by V5 TSM z/OS servers, including non-IBM devices and allows continued sharing of tape library resource (drives and media) under z/OS and provides a migration path to the ever expanding Fibre Channel platform.
