11638: Performance and Data Management Features using Oracle's T10000C Tape Drive

Friday, August 10, 2012: 8:00 AM-9:00 AM
Elite 2 (Anaheim Marriott Hotel)
Speakers: Wendy Johnson(Oracle) and Piotr Polanowski(Oracle)

An explosion of data growth is driving global demand for archive storage technology.  Of paramount importance is the ability to manage the data efficiently and then effectively verify the integrity of the data throughout the life of the archive; a capability that becomes even more important as the life span of data archives continue to expand.  Oracle's Tape Label Verification Accelerator, Tape Application Accelerator, Tape Tiered Accelerator and the StorageTek Data Integrity Validation feature in the StorageTek T10000C Tape Drive enables multiple methods of data management and performance and CRC checking as archive data propagates between components of the data storage landscape.  This session will explain the features  in terms of its speed, flexibility (three CRC polynomials are supported), and standards support (T10 ANSI End to End Protection Standard).

Tracks: Data Center and IT Management, Security and Compliance, Storage Administration and z/OS Systems Programming
