Speaker: Robert Zwink, VP, JPMC, Expert, Engineer(JP Morgan Chase)
Handouts
  • Open Source ETL on the mainframe - complete white paper (528.4 kB)
  • Presentation (178.6 kB)
  • Pentaho is an open source framework written in Java which includes a full featured Extract Transform Load (ETL) tool called Pentaho Data Integration (PDI) or Kettle.  Programmers leverage PDI to create visual data transformations which can be a direct 1:1 translation of existing Mainframe COBOL Batch.  Once finished, the transformation is a completely portable Java application written in a visual programming language which runs fully within a java virtual machine (JVM).  Java programs created by PDI are 100% zAAP eligible.  The session will include an overview of PDI, experience working with PDI on a mainframe and brief demonstration.
