This presentation will detail the availability, location and use of the basic tools required by the network administrator to diagnose problems in a TCP/IP network. This will include initial problem determination, possible causes, and actions to be taken. The effects of some of the specialised traffic (e.g. ICMP, DNS) will also be explained in brief. The use of the utilities ( such as 'ping', 'traceroute', 'netstat', traces and packet capture utilities will be shown in some detail, both on and off (where appropriate) the z/OS platform.
