In this session, speakers from z/OS Level 2 support will discuss techniques
commonly used for debugging loops and hangs. The speakers will describe how z/OS Runtime Diagnostics (RTD) can help with the initial detection and collection of doc for loops and hangs, and how IPCS can be used to analyze the dumps collected for them. Attendees will learn about the use of the system trace table (SYSTRACE) and ANALYZE RESOURCE to identify loops and resource contention. Basic information from SUMMARY FORMAT (task/address space non-dispatchability bits) will also be discussed. The techniques covered in this session can help expedite the analysis of loop and hang problems when working with the IBM Support Center. You may also be interested in session 17555, z/OS Debugging: Hands-On Lab, which contains a couple of lab exercises to help reinforce these concepts.
We welcome all zNG members to attend. This is a new session for Orlando.
