DFSMShsm is used to manage structured data, but what about unstructured data? Unstructured data is one of the fastest growing data segments. We'll provide an overview of how OAM (Object Access Method) can be used to manage unstructured (byte-stream) data on z/OS. We'll start with our front end API (OSREQ) and work our way through the policy and storage management layer within OAM. This will include a discussion of the storage options supported with OAM and how you can also take advantage of zFS and NFS mountable file systems to store your object data.
