  • New features for IBM's DS8870 include intelligent, seventh-generation Easy Tier technology that can help optimize application performance dynamically across any DS8870 configuration without requiring administrators to manually tune their applications. This session will focus on IBM's Easy Tier solution, specifically in a System z  (ie "zed") environment and will provide a deep dive into Easy Tier implementation, exploitation, and benefits for the z/OS platform.  This will include a discussion of new enhancements to the Easy Tier application for System z, a unified, software-defined storage API, and how it can help to efficiently deploy storage by enabling applications running on System z to direct more optimal placement of data by communicating important information about current  workload activity and application performance requirements.
