16814: The Relatively New LSPR and the IBM z13

Tuesday, March 3, 2015: 11:15 AM-12:15 PM
Jefferson B (Level 4) (Sheraton Seattle)
Speaker: Gary King(IBM Corporation)
Handouts
  • LSPR and the IBM z13 (336.9 kB)
  • At the time of the z196 introduction, the LSPR was significantly enhanced to be based on a measure of a workload's
intensity of use of a processor's memory hierarchy. Since then the methodology has seen much validation and continues
to be used for the new IBM z13 processor. This session will discuss the theory behind the relatively new metric
(Relative Nest Intensity) and its basis on data gathered using CPU MF. Its application to capacity sizing will be
illustrated using the latest LSPR data for the z13.
