  • This session is a technical introduction to the newest member of the IBM z Systems family, the IBM z13.  In Part 2, you will be introduced to the enhancements that make z13 a true I/O super computer with more that doubled I/O bandwidth; 85 logical partitions; four subchannel sets per Logical Channel Subsystem (LCSS); 16 Gbps FICON Express16S channels;  enhanced FICON function, including  enhancements to System z High Performance FICON (zHPF), new Forward Error Correction, Dynamic Routing of inter-switch traffic, and support for end to end Storage Area Network (SAN) Fabric Priority. Gain insight into networking enhancements including full virtualization for 10GbE RoCE Express and Multi-VSwitch Link Aggregation (LAG) Support for z/VM. Get an introduction to z13 physical planning, cabling and hardware management console (HMC) considerations.  Build a foundation for planning z13 implementation and get prepared to attend more in depth sessions on these topics. This session is the second  part of a two part sequence.
