The mainframe is 50 years old this year, and it has undergone quite an evolution. The history of disk and tape technology for the mainframe can trace its history back to 1956. In this session, the speakers will explore the evolution of storage and describe how the changes in storage were invented.
The feature speaker for this session will be Claus Mikkelsen. Claus was hired by IBM in 1966, just two years after the IBM mainframe was introduced, and Claus has spent his whole career at both IBM and at HDS as a storage inventor. He has a wealth of knowledge about mainframe storage and many entertaining stories. Whether you are new to the mainframe or have been working on mainframes for the past 50 years, everyone will find this presentation both informative and enjoyable.
