  • Modern Environment for zOS Development (3.4 MB)
  • The development environment for z/OS applications has not changed significantly in the last 20 year.  Many teams are still using traditional ISPF interfaces into legacy SCM solutions.  In order to attract new developers and increase the productivity of those currently in the environment, Rational Developer for zEnterprise and Rational Team Concert have been developed to support multiplatform development brining the best of the current development capabilities to the z/OS development environment as well.

Eclipse (eclipse.org) is the most used Integrated Development Environment today. Imagine the power of Eclipse available for your System z developers. Rational Developer for zEnterprise extends Eclipse and the Rational Application Developer (RAD) to provide a comprehensive development environment for multi-tiered composite applications. IBM delivers Enterprise Application Development tools, across the lifecycle, which meet the requirements of these diverse development groups.

This session will explore the capabilities of Rational Developer for zEnterprise and Rational Team Concert, how they can benefit organizations, and how everyone even those who wish to continue to use ISPF environments can gain value.

You may also want to attend session 15608: Application Development Tools Hands-on Lab: RDz, RTCz and the RTCz ISPF Client for some direct experience with Rational tool suite on z/OS.
