15780: Break Down the Walls for Faster, More Seamless Mainframe Application Problem Resolution

Wednesday, August 6, 2014: 11:15 AM-12:15 PM
Room 320 (David L. Lawrence Convention Center)
Speaker: Spencer Hallman(Compuware Corporation)

A major global CIO survey showed that only 31 percent of CIOs see cooperation across technology silos and 81 percent believe there is a need to bridge gaps so that IT can take a more unified approach to problem solving. The reality is most IT organizations still rely on manual processes with limited communication when relaying critical details about an application performance problem or exception. More often than not, this leads to inefficient problem-solving, slower time-to-market and increased costs.

New product integrations are available that help break down the long- standing walls between Development, QA and Operations to improve collaboration and productivity. Deeper integration between the tools used to find problems and the tools used to fix them enable the automated capture of detailed information about an issue, providing Development what it needs to fast-track the resolution process and accelerate the delivery of IT services.

Attendees will learn about new processes and functionality that dramatically improve the way DevOps teams collaborate when resolving mainframe application performance problems or exceptions. They’ll discover how Operations and QA teams can pinpoint the root cause of a performance problem and then send a "fix request” that automatically gathers the contextual insights of the problem. Once the fix request is received Development can begin to re-create, debug and ultimately fix the problem.

With 48 percent of IT executives reporting a performance issue daily and 81 percent indicating they experienced the same failure multiple times, this session is a must for organizations that want to stop fire-fighting and focus on what matters the most - driving business.
