  • Cross Platform Performance Monitoring with RMF XP (6.6 MB)
  • For installations running operating systems other than z/OS, RMF Cross Platform Monitoring (RMF XP) provides an integrated solution to monitor the performance of heterogeneous environments. With z/OS V2R1, RMF XP supports the following operating system types:

    • AIX runnng on system p
    • Linux running on system x
    • Linux running on system z
    • Windows on system x

Hence, all operating systems which can run on an IBM zEnterprise Server including the zEnterprise Blade Center Extension (zBX) can be monitored with RMF XP. However, RMF XP does not necessarily require zBX hardware: just a TCP/IP connection to the remote systems is needed. And last not least, RMF XP can now be used also for long-term performance analysis and capacity planning of your AIX, Linux and Windows systems. For this purpose, RMF XP writes the performance data collected from the distributed systems to the new SMF record type 104.
