With zEC12,  IBM has continued to make the mainframe into a Java first environment. The zEC12 has added a 45% improvement to the benchmark for multi threaded Java applications which improves transactional throughput. The IMS Universal drivers are a set of Java APIs based on industry standards which allows for wider access to IMS data.
