14128: Blazing OLTP and Analytic Performance in a Single Database: The IBM DB2 Analytic Accelerator

Friday, August 16, 2013: 8:00 AM-9:00 AM
Room 305 (Hynes Convention Center)
Speaker: Jeffrey S. Feinsmith(IBM)

The IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator is the realization of a single RDBMS designed to perform both OLTP and analytical workloads with unparalleled performance, scalability, reliabilily, security and simplicity.  Built into the heart of DB2 for z/OS's optimizer, DB2 combines the best of SMP and MPP architectures to intelligently and transparently direct OLTP queries to native zEnterprise storage while analytical queries are directed to mirrored storage in Netezza-based technology. In this session, Mr. Feinsmith discusses the origins of the technology, how it works, and shares how IBM's clients are uniquely leveraging the technology to not only simplify their infrastructures, but to also "change the way they do business".
