14052: Fighting Malware Using Big Data Techniques

Thursday, August 15, 2013: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
Room 200 (Hynes Convention Center)

The threat environment is shifting dramatically. Last year alone there were nearly 300 million new pieces of malware released. Add to the increase in malware the unprecedented amounts of data being generated and stored, and you end up in a situation where you can't see what you are trying to protect. Static tools and manual responses are no longer adequate to deal with sophisticated threats that continue to morph and grow as well as unprecedented amounts of data. To combat this emerging issue we must utilize big data techniques to protect against malware. Join Dr. Adam O’Donnell, Chief Architect of the Cloud Technology Group at Sourcefire, as he discusses how by using big data techniques we can discover, understand and block advanced malware outbreaks, APTs and targeted attacks.
