  • zAAP Offload Framework is aimed at identifying and automatically moving CP -intensive I/O COBOL application workloads using a COBOL wrapper and an OOCOBOL interface that links to z/OS JAVA APIs, thereby offloading to the zAAP specialty engine. The MIPS savings can improve the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of System z without sacrificing the reliability, availability, seviceability and security features of z/OS.

This framework currently works on VSAM, Sequential, MQ and DB2  I/O operations in COBOL applications to ZAAP Specialty Processor using the above methodology. This architecture also provides the flexibility to enhance the wrapper and the associated components to address other COBOL verbs/ workloads as well.
