  • For many customers Linux on z/VM is becoming the platform of choice to host large enterprise applications. This often requires large virtual machines with 10's of GB real memory and half a dozen or more virtual CPUs. Although z/VM and Linux scale very well, large virtual machines come with their own unique performance challenges. Some of the old Rules of Thumb don't apply anymore in this environment, but that does not mean that anyone's wild guess is good enough. This presentation will focus on measuring and managing large virtual machines.
