12943: How to Identify Datasets Containing PCI, PII or Other Sensitive Information

Tuesday, February 5, 2013: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
Golden Gate 6, Lobby Level (San Francisco Hilton)
Speaker: David Wade(Primerica Financial Services)
Handouts
  • XBridge Primerica (733.5 kB)
  • The task and challenge at hand is to classify these datasets and database tables?  Who owns them, and what do they contain?  How to identify which ones have confidential, PII, PCI, or other sensitive information? While the marketplace offers numerous discovery tools for Windows, Unix, and network file-sharing environments, they do not support the unique data formats found on the IBM mainframe.

Enter DataSniff, by Xbridge Systems, a unique data discovery tool that offers native scanning of mainframe data structures, and a rich user interface product to schedule the scans and manage reporting.  DataSniff offers the unique ability to scan QSAM, VSAM, PDS, GDG data structures and DB2 data.  DataSniff also scans migrated datasets while managing the recall and re-migration to prevent disk space shortages.

The presenter will show how, using DataSniff, Primerica is able to manage scanning, scheduling, reporting and classification of mainframe data all from a central, user-friendly interface.
