Handouts
  • Automated performance (5.5 MB)
  • z/OS is a dynamic platform with potentially many mission critical workloads to monitor and manage simultaneously.  Automated Performance Management is a methodology to handle the complexities of z/OS, and address potential issues reliably and at machine speed.  IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM), OMEGAMON monitoring on z/OS, and IBM System Automation (SA) offer powerful,  integrated, easy to use automation, command and control capabilities.

OMEGAMON and ITM monitoring via the Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) include unique, very easy to use automation functions in the form of situations and policies.  This presentation will look at methods and best practices to effectively leverage and use the  situation and policy automation mechanisms included within the TEP.

OMEGAMON monitoring also integrates directly with IBM System Automation.  This presentation will then cover the specifics of how this integration works, and demonstrate  the benefits of automated performance management.  The presentation will also show examples of how automated performance management may be used to address critical z/OS performance and availability issues.
