12783: Leveraging the Instrumentation Facility on DB2 for z/OS: Tracing and Monitoring Fundamentals

Thursday, February 7, 2013: 3:00 PM-4:00 PM
Golden Gate 8, Lobby Level (San Francisco Hilton)
Speaker: John Tobler(IBM Corporation)
Handouts
  • Leveraging the Instrumentation Facility on DB2 for z/OS: Tracing and Monitor Fundamentals (830.2 kB)
  • Performance, tuning, and chargeback are critical aspects of database management. Typically, analysis centers around trace records generated by the DB2 Instrumentation Facility (IFC) or monitor records collected via the DB2 Instrumentation Interface (IFI). An understanding of the instrumentation facility and interface can allow for efficient analysis of database function. This session will cover tracing fundamentals such as trace command mechanics, destination differences, special non-external IFCIDs such as IFCID318, filtering, and trace types.
