Almost all of DB2 for z/OS users gathers DB2 accounting and statistics information into SMF data, but do you also use, understand and exploit all the information that is in those records? This session will start with basics such as what information is tracked by the very basic DB2 traces - accounting and statistics records. Then, we will use multiple examples from real use case to format the records with IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for DB2 Performance Expert on z/OS and examine how to exploit this great source of information to analyze and tune DB2 performance. The focus of this session is on post processed records instead of online monitoring, however, principles apply to both type of monitoring.
