Monday, August 6, 2012: 1:30 PM-2:30 PM
Grand Ballroom Salon E/F (Anaheim Marriott Hotel)
Speaker: Denis Dubeau(Greenplum)

Hadoop is a software framework that supports data-intensive applications. It enables applications to work with thousands of computational independent computers and petabytes of data. According to some studies, eighty percent of the world’s data is unstructured, and most businesses don’t even attempt to use this data to their advantage. What business advantages could you achieve if you had a way to analyze that data?

In this session, our speaker will explain what the Hadoop framework is, how it works and what business advantages can be achieved using Hadoop. Who knows, you may even find out some interesting Hadoop trivia as a result of this session. After all, did you know that Hadoop was originally the name of a stuffed toy elephant belonging to a child of the framework's creator, Doug Cutting?
