Handouts
  • Breaking the Relational Limit with pureXML in DB2 for z/OS (490.4 kB)
  • Rigid relational model is in constant conflict with today's complex and dynamic application demand. pureXML introduced in DB2 9 provides great flexibility that extends the relational model and has been exploited by many users for a wide variety of applications. With the second release of pureXML in DB2 10 for z/OS come many exciting new features and improvements, such as sub-document update, XQuery, XML support in SQL PL, and binary XML format. Using concrete examples, this presentation will demonstrate scenarios and solutions of using pureXML unique features to achieve flexibility above and beyond the relational model, improve productivity and performance, and alleviate the pains for application developers as well as DBAs.
