Storage Tiering - A New Frontier for Mainframe Storage

Mainframe data management/tiering involves heavy use of DFHSM and associated MSU licensing on the mainframe.  Envision a future where this workload is offloaded to the storage control unit, which would significantly reduced MSU consumption on the mainframe associated with DFHSM migration activities.  Imagine the ability to pre-stage weekly or monthly jobs to a higher tier storage for processing and then subsequently migrate the associated data sets back to a lower tier.
