Handouts
  • Session 11439 v2 (1.3 MB)
  • CICS Version 4.1 saw the introduction of Event Processing to CICS.  Event
processing gives the enterprise greater business flexibility by providing a
noninvasive method of defining and generating business events.  This
capability was further enhanced in CICS TS 4.2 with the inclusion of system
events to enable you to understand the state and health of your system.
During this session we will introduce the concept of Event Processing in
CICS; the components of an event binding; how an event is emitted via an
adapter; the various options for synchronous/asynchronous and transactional
event emission; the use of system events to understand the state of your
system; and some of the implications in terms of performance and resource
    usage of Event Processing.
