Handouts
  • SAS Workloads (783.1 kB)
  • A corporation is planning on ramping up their use of Web Report Studio (WRS), a web application frontend for the SAS System. As WRS rolls out in waves to increasing numbers of users, two questions emerge:

    1. What happens to WRS response time as more users are added over time,
    2. At what point (i.e. at what user level) is a hardware upgrade inevitable in order to maintain performance?

In today’s economic environment, it is imperative to take the guesswork out of upgrade timing and upgrade expectations. This session examines different capacity planning techniques, including a dynamic, scalable report request load generator technique to drive a growing WRS workload, and examines results as each ‘wave’ of new users is simulated. The corporation can then make an informed decision on when to upgrade to maintain acceptable response times.
