Handouts
  • Starter System for System z (100.8 kB)
  • Using prior versions of the Starter System, many system programmers have been able to deploy Linux for System z with mainframe specific tools and without the need for an external installation server and network connection.  The new version of the Starter System incorporates additional features to make it even more useful.  We will guide you though the intial steps, configure the system for a "netboot" type deployment of the first Linux instances, and show how we can access these using the interal and z/VM unique means of communication.

    Topics:
    1) Inital Setup
    2) Adding repositories
    3) Install via zPXE
    4) IUCV terminal server configuration
    5) Capture console Logs from z/VM Systems
