  • z/OS maintenance and PARMLIB management are the core competencies for any z/OS systems programmer.  But it seems that every z/OS site has its own way of managing maintenance and PARMLIBs.  This session and its companion, Successful Practices for Installing and Rolling Out z/OS Maintenance - User Experience, will show you successful methods for managing both of these critical z/OS competencies.  The speakers in this session will present their methodologies for managing PARMLIB.  The speakers will describe the use of concatenated PARMLIBs, use of system symbols, placement of PARMLIB on the res volume or elsewhere, shared vs. dedicated PARMLIBs, etc.  Pros and cons of the various PARMLIB methodologies will also be discussed.
