Some useful z/OS functions are accessible only through Assembler Language programs. Among the topics this presentation will describe are:

* Storage management, subpoools, and non-pageable memory

* Using ENQ/DEQ to serialize processes and communicate among them

* OPEN TYPE=J and RDJFCB

* System exits (for RACF, JES, etc.)

* Authorized services

* Using HLASM's macro facility to generate VTAM network definitions (XCAs, PATH, ROUTE, etc.)

... and possibly more.

Tracks: Network Support and Management, Responsibly Architected Application Solutions, Security and Compliance, Software Architecture and z/OS Systems Programming
