  • Virtual Linux Server Disaster Recovery Planning (392.4 kB)
  • Having dozens of virtual Linux servers running on a System z requires a solid plan to recover those virtual servers should a significant outage cause the environment to be unavailable. The IBM System z hardware and z/VM as the virtualization engine are tools that can reduce the potential issues of recovering. Because of z/VM's strength in supporting guest systems, it is frequently the chosen host for Business Recovery at both individual companies and at sites of vendors that specialize in hosting Business Recovery.

This session will include an overview of issues to consider when planning for recovery and testing a recovery plan for virtual Linux servers. The discussion will include tips and information about the features and tools of z/VM that are available to help recover Linux servers. Technical examples of how to use z/VM for planning and configuring recovery systems/environments will be shown.
