  • Crypto is not a trivial subject, and this session assumes you have some crypto background.  We’ll talk about the differences between clear key and secure key hardware and how hardware availability can impact your disaster recovery plans.

For a few customers the DR environment will contain identical hardware to the production environment, so moving to the DR environment will simply require loading of the appropriate master keys.  For other customers, the DR hardware will be an older generation of hardware that was retired from production when newer technology became available.  And for yet other customers the DR hardware provided by a vendor may be the latest technology and more current than what is used in production.  In each of these cases, there are considerations for moving your production workload to the DR environment and it is important to understand the potential issues so that you can define the steps for moving your crypto work to the DR environment.  We’ll also cover the steps required to recover your master keys which is a critical step in making your operational keys available at the DR site.
