  • WebSphere administrators and system programmers will have something to do in this lab, and IBMers will be here to help you when you need it.  Here are a set of hands on labs that provide an excellent opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge. Are you supporting a project that integrates mainframe applications, web services and databases? Has your boss told you to build the environment for deploying SOA and Web 2.0 applications across mainframe and distributed environments? Have you been asked to migrate WebSphere from 6.1 to 7.0 or install new runtimes for 7.0? Are you tasked to find memory leaks? Come and try a plethora of tools ranging from the WebSphere Profile Management Tool (PMT) for z/OS, the Migration Management Tool (zMMT), some of the debug tools in the IBM Support Assistant (ISA) to IBM's latest tooling to jump start your application modernization and SOA projects. This session will include labs on: (1) Use the PMT from the WCT to generate the JOBs to configure a WebSphere V7 runtime.  (2) Use the zMMT from the WCT to generate the JOBs to migrate from WebSphere V6.1 to V7.  (3) Use WebSphere z/OS messages & settings to debug timeouts. (4) Use the latest Java tools to diagnose an OOM error.

Tracks: Application Technologies and Architectures, Applications Programming, z/OS Systems Programming and zNextGen
