    • Tape processing today is alive and well – and very important.

    Today, many installations rely on a virtual tape infrastructure to quickly and securely backup vital business data onto cheaper, secure media. In many cases, tapes are duplexed or replicated to distant locations for disaster recovery requirements. But, how well is that process performing? How long does it take to create tapes? Is the disaster recovery SLA being fulfilled?

    An insight into tape processing will be shown, based on z/OS SMF data together with IBM BVIR (TS7700) and Oracle SMF data.
