Wednesday, March 4, 2015: 11:15 AM-12:30 PM
Boren (Level 4) (Sheraton Seattle)
Speakers: Janet Sun(Rocket Software, Inc.) and Michael E. Friske(Fidelity Investments)

The primary consideration when defining ICF catalogs is recoverability.  After that has been addressed you can take a look at performance.  The BCS is a VSAM KSDS and is tuned in a very similar manner to any other KSDS.  As with most data set tuning, a major facet of improving performance is to speed up, reduce or eliminate I/O.  The speakers will discuss monitoring the catalog address space, caching of catalog records, Enhanced Catalog Sharing and RLS for catalogs.  The role of a catalog is to locate your data.  You can help ensure that it does its job efficiently.
