Mark Rakhmilevich is a Senior Director of Product Management for Tuxedo and Mainframe Modernization at Oracle. In this role he focuses on Oracle solutions that help customers migrate mainframe applications to open systems and cloud-enabled platforms. Mark leads the Oracle Tuxedo ART solution, which simplifies and accelerates rehosting of mainframe CICS, IMS, and Batch applications and helps customers to further extend them with Java and modern SOA components. Mark works with Oracle engineering to address the needs of mainframe customers and their mission-critical applications, provide extreme performance and reliability for mainframe-class applications, and innovative application modernization options. He delivers customer seminars and workshops on Mainframe Modernization, speaks at public events, and works closely with customers in US, Europe, and Asia to guide their mainframe migration projects. Mark has worked with many Global 2000 customers, global SIs, banking and insurance ISVs, and key technology vendors to provide a complete solution that helps mainframe customers reduce MIPS and/or extend their mainframe applications to SOA and Java. In this role he conducts discovery, guides Oracle and customer teams in appropriate migration approaches, target architecture options, mapping mainframe software to open systems, and assists in framing and planning mainframe migration projects. Prior to Oracle, Mark held senior development management, product management and marketing roles at IBM, Compuware, Tandem, Valicert, Tumbleweed, Chordiant, and BEA. He has extensive experience in system design, software and systems architecture, program and product management, marketing and business development. Mark worked extensively with banks, insurers, payment networks, telcos, and government organizations focusing on enterprise middleware and SOA platforms, mainframe application modernization, financial messaging, security, PKI, B2B integration, and BPM-driven CRM solutions for customer servicing and selling across multiple channels. His early work at IBM on mainframe partitioning and virtualization capabilities led to a patent award for “Logical Resource Partitioning of a Data Processing System” – the basis of the IBM LPAR technology for partitioning mainframes and, later, UNIX servers into multiple virtual machines. Mark has an MS in Computer Science from State University of New York at Albany, and BS in Computer Science from Lehigh University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Mark has presented at BEA World, Oracle OpenWorld, IDN seminars and other industry events and is a co-author of a book “Oracle Modernization Solutions”, PACKT Publishing, August 2008 (available at http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Modernization-Solutions-LASZEWSKI-WILLIAMSON/dp/1847194648/ )
