Introducing Version 1.2 of the Transaction Analysis Workbench for System z

Many customers execute over 500 million transactions a day and the instrumentation data created can overwhelm traditional tools. The session explains an IBM tool that allows transaction analysis and processing of instrumentation ‘Big Data’. Also covered is the newly announced batch reporting which combines CICS/DB2 and IMS/DB2 data to provide a consolidated picture of any transaction delays inside CICS and or IMS.  This tool’s ‘Exception processing’ feature crawls the instrumentation data looking for transactions that exceed exception criteria. Once identified, the tool enables transaction life cycle analysis using IMS, CICS, DB2, Websphere MQ, SMF, and Operlog data. Automated data gathering, enhanced collaboration, reduced time to fix, and training the next generation of support personnel are benefits. Expanded DB2 analysis discovers SQL performing data scans, cascade deletes involving multiple tables, stored procedures, UDF’s, and triggers. Application development teams should attend to see how the tool enriches their environments.  This tool also supports all the new IMS V13 features including synchronous program switch.
