16029: General Session: Beyond Silicon; Cognition, and Much, Much More

Monday, August 4, 2014: 8:00 AM-9:30 AM
Allegheny Grand Ballroom (Westin) (Westin Pittsburgh Hotel)
Speaker: Bernard Meyerson, PhD(IBM Corporation)

When questioned as to what drives both technical and financial success in a global enterprise, the term Innovation invariably appears in the first one or two responses given by both technical and business leaders.  There are many aspects to innovation, both from the perspective of how one best equips an organization to excel in this capability, as well as to how one then provides a framework for such innovation to have the desired positive impact on clients, society, and the organization itself.  The imperative to innovate stems from the reality that this capability is at the very heart of an organizations ability to survive, particularly for a technology centric enterprise where that technical world moves forward at a blistering pace.  Dr. Meyerson will discuss in detail strategies employed to ensure the simultaneous availability of the right people, infrastructure, and motivation to sustain innovation in a global enterprise, and give examples of the extraordinary outcomes that can result when all these attributes come together.
