  • Predictive analytics includes an array of analysis techniques from modelling, machine learning, data mining, to game theory that analyze current and historical information to make predictions about future events.  In business, predictive models may exploit information patterns found in historical and transactional data to identify risks and assess opportunities.  Models may capture relationships among many factors to allow assessment of risk or potential.

In the context of IT Service Management (ISM), predictive analytics may be applied to reduce manual analysis, eliminate false alerts and improve overall diagnostic processes.  With a more proactive model of systems management, the goal is to minimize service disruptions.  This presentation will discuss the concepts or predictive analysis, consider common systems management challenges, and look at how predictive analysis concepts may be applied to address IT Service Management needs.
