At the time of the z196 introduction, the LSPR was significantly enhanced to be based on a measure of a workload's intensity of use of a processor's memory hierarchy. Since then the methodology has seen much validation and continues to be used for the zEC12/zBC12 processors. This session will discuss the theory behind the relatively new metric (Relative Nest Intensity) and its basis on data gathered using CPU MF. Its application to capacity sizing will be illustrated by contrasting the performance of z196 and zEC12/zBC12 processors.
