For years Health Checker has been keeping z/OS systems running smoothly by ensuring best-practice configurations, helping with migrations, and preventing outages.
Beginning in z/OS V2R1, Health Checker automatically starts during IPL. Health Checker will then send messages for any exceptions it finds. This new behavior might create some surprises for customers that have not yet implemented Health Checker. Also, customers already running Health Checker might need to make a few adjustments to their setup based upon the information presented here.
The speaker will also provide some general health check writing concepts and will compare how these would look like in the "official" check implementation languages (Assembler, System REXX, and METAL C).
