DB2 for z/OS With EMC Storage Tiering: FAST VP

EMC released Fully Automated Storage Tiering with Virtual Pools in May 2012 for the mainframe. This session describes the considerations for implementing FAST VP with DB2 for z/OS subsystems. The session describes reason and value of automated tiering, the requirements for tiering on VMAX, the implementation and migration steps, how to set policies, time windows, and data movement windows. Some best practices with SMS and HSM are also discussed.
