  • Session 13950 - Integrity and Compliance, and the Change Management Process in zOS - a User Experience (595.8 kB)
  • As in most major financial companies, we are very concerned with the changes made to our critical z/OS datasets and needed to establish a policy and the procedures  to not only capture changes when they are made but also evaluate the overall effect of the change on the integrity of our z/OS LPARS supporting our business activities. Since we had established an enterprise-wide reporting requirement that all changes, regardless of the platform, needed to be recorded in our change management tool, we needed to not only manage changes made to z/OS datasets on the mainframe but also provide a process in which those changes would also be recorded by a tool that was not mainframe based. Fulfilling this requirement allowed us to remain in compliance with various government regulations and provided a centralized system for auditing change activity across the enterprise.

In this session I will show how we track and evaluate changes to system relevant datasets with the products Image FOCUS and the Control Editor from NewEra Software and how this data is used to generate change records to our company change management tool (HP Service Manager) via an http/soap request.

Attendees who concerns include Security, Audit, Change Management, and overall system integrity, availability and compliance will benefit from this session.
