Every day, billions of heap requests are routed to Language Environment almost all without incident. But when damage does occur will you be prepared? Almost all heap damage results from user applications accidentally causing storage overlays. Without proper coverage your application may be left floundering while unsuccessful attempts are made at finding the cause. The speaker will discuss how Language Environment manages heap storage for the application and how to debug application overlays with a special look at new functionality available in z/OS 2.1 to help detect and in some cases tolerate heap overlays.
