  • Most businesses require the ability to make changes to the IT environment with little or no allowance for outage.  The System z hardware provides the capability to change the I/O configuration without an outage.  Many shops use z/OS to manage I/O Configuration. With the growth of Linux on System z, there are a growing number of machines with only z/VM and Linux guests.  z/VM provides the software interface to manage that dynamic change facility.  This session will describe how to set up your machine and z/VM for Dynamic I/O Configuration. We will discuss the software options for managing changes and describe the steps needed to successfully make a change.  If you have been reluctant to use the Dynamic facilities, this session is intended to help you to see how you can take advantage of this facility.
