Biographical Sketch:
Carl Gehr is the Lead Developer and Principal Consultant for Edge Information Group. He is a specialist in language and application development technologies. Carl has over 52 years experience in Information Systems, including 32 years as an IBM Systems Engineer. Carl retired from IBM in 1993. Since then, he has been associated with Edge Information Group. Edge is an IBM Business Partner. Carl is responsible for the development and support of the Edge Portfolio Analyzer [EPA]. The EPA extracts module, CSECT and language attributes, plus compiler options from z/OS executable code. This information can be used for many planning tasks such as migrations, problem determination and configuration management. Carl attened his first SHARE in Oct-1968 as an IBM Representative to the SHARE and GUIDE PL/I Project. He continued as the IBM Rep to the PL/I and COBOL Projects for 25 years until retiring from IBM in 1993. Carl, along with Marilyn Frankel, organized and managed the Year 2000 Projects at SHARE and GUIDE through the Year 2000 Rollover. He is currently the Project Manager of the SHARE Languages Project that supports Language Environment, COBOL, PL/I, C/C++, Assembler and REXX. He was one of the IBM Representatives to the GUIDE/SHARE Languages Futures Task Force from 1979-84. This user lead task force defined most of the basic requirements that resulted in the introduction of Language Environment, the current z/OS compilers and Debug Tools, as well as the earlier SAA and AD/Cycle language products.
