Handouts
  • Assembler Skills Exiting? Let zOSEM Eliminate Your Exit Needs (1.3 MB)
  • Even before the lessening of available skills as the population ages, creating and maintaining user exits for  Allocation, TSO/E, the JESes and RACF have been problems. Often the need to update exits causes delays in upgrading to a new z/OS release, and the cost is not inconsiderable. Now, with assembler skills getting rarer, the problem is only going to get worse.

On Wednesday at 1:30pm, Bob Rogers (Distinguished Engineer) will tell you how zOSEM from Trident Services can solve the problem for you. It has very extensive capabilities to eliminate the need for your customization exits. You indicate the processing you want on ISPF panels and let zOSEM do it for you – no programming required. And, since Trident supports the latest z/OS release at GA, there's no delay in updating your systems software.

z/OSEM provides additional function to aid in the management of the exits you choose to retain, and provides special facilities for testing exit routines. Exits can be dynamically changed without IPL as can most of zOSEM customization.  zOSEM can also perform many other useful functions, like resource-based job routing to reduce ISV costs, DFSMShsm (HSM) optimization and reporting, and more. In this presentation, Bob will overview the comprehensive capabilities of this awesome product.”
